Your exterior paint has to withstand the elements throughout the year, which means you must use durable paint that meets the needs of your home. Generally speaking, you should paint your exterior every five to ten years, but this will depend on where you live, the climate, and the surface of your home. For example, wood siding should be painted every three to seven years, aluminum every five years, stucco 3 is five to six years, and brick can last fifteen to twenty years.
Unlike conventional masking tape, painter’s tape—the blue type—has an adhesive backing that is only mildly sticky. This makes it much easier to remove without damaging the paint or finish. Stickier 3-inch painter’s tape is better for holding down paper and plastic drop cloths. 5.0 out of 5 stars It works well if you follow the directions I've read the negative reviews and haven't found them to match my good experience with the painter. I like the edger very much and recommend it with these cautions: You must read the directions and follow them, and you do have to keep the O-ring and spout clean after filling and before remounting the paint pad. I strongly advise practicing first with water rather than paint to see how the thumb lever and plunger loop work in a coordinated way. That will demonstrate why some people describe paint going where they don't want it. If you release the lever in the wrong order you will eject paint. I always fill the edger aimed down into the paint can and in a coordinated way as described in the directions, so it's never been a problem.

But painting a house can be a big job, especially if the house is in shoddy shape that would require considerable preparation. In addition, a house more than one story tall or built on a hillside guarantees a high level of difficulty. Comfortable with heights? That is often a prerequisite when DIY painting. ©HannaMariah / Shutterstock.com
