I agree completely — never paint over wallpaper! My house is very old and the original owners had wallpaper (layer upon layer) in every room in the house — even the bathrooms. Then the last owner painted over the wallpaper. Yikes! What a mess. So glad most of it is gone but it was a chore. Thanks for the great tips to painting the house. Quality tools are key (and patience). Skylar Mitchell February 25, 2015 .
Worldly Gray shows as a more saturated, slightly darker version of the popular Agreeable Gray. As an exterior color, it creates a soft and earthy feel. Because of Worldly Gray’s earthy tones, it pairs well with a Pearly White house trim color accented by black shutters.
Both Google and Yelp list (mostly) independent reviews from real costumers. Yes, it’s possible to “game” them, but Nigel has some tips on what to look for: If a company has no online review profile, this can be a red flag. Beware of brokerage sites which offer to make referrals. Often these companies make money based on the number of referrals, not the jobs booked, so their recommendations may be based on little more than a background check on the owner. This post couldn’t come at a better time! My top tip would be to use the most expensive paint you can afford, the cheap stuff just doesn’t hold up to day to day life with mucky little toddlers, this time I’m getting the Scrub proof paint! Before painting, always make sure that the surfaces you intend to clean are completely dry. This will increase the possibility of ending up with a smooth, perfectly even painted surface. Therefore, avoid painting when it’s rainy or excessively humid.
Dip a high-quality 4-inch paintbrush about 2 inches into the paint (so it doesn’t collect too much paint).

A perk of going dark: You may be able to skip the primer if the original paint is a lighter color, and you may need fewer coats! Another cost-saving idea: Refresh your house with the same color rather than choosing a different hue; you’ll probably need just one coat. For some cons of dark paints, skip to #8. 5. You’ll need to protect your plants.
