As mentioned earlier, you should keep the exterior of your home clean to prevent paint damage. Plan to pressure wash your home almost every year. This will wash away any dirt or mildew that has made your paint look faded or discolored. .
Oil-based paints are also notoriously difficult to clean. If you get paint on a surface, you need to clean it with a toxic chemical such as mineral spirits or denatured alcohol.
I have a similar situation where I feel we should have painted everything all one color to unify the look….we used a semi trans weathered gray / bleeching oil and I think it looks too bland….

When estimating the cost of a job, painters will factor in the time it takes to move or cover up any furniture in their bid, which increases interior painting costs. The best (and cheapest) time for interior house painting is either before you move in or after you've moved out.
It took a couple days to get the house primed. When that was done, it was time for our paint party! We had some people over and painted colors, whites, trims, and doors. You can see the color choices here. The walls were painted a semi-gloss paramount white and the trim was gloss ultra white. Choosing two different sheens gives contrast and a bit more depth. The semi-gloss and gloss painted walls are also easier to clean compared to flat paint.
For best adhesion, brush-on the primer. Using a 4-inch brush for siding or a 2-inch brush for trim, work from the top down, brushing in line with the siding’s grain. Brush out any drips or splatters.

We did a little updating by spray painting the shutters, replacing the landscaping, adding a window box, painting the garage door, and building a pergola over the garage. This made a big impact, but I still craved the white brick after! We decided to break this project up into phases. Our house is three stories tall in the back and on the sides (we have a walk out basement). And the sides of the house have a steep hill, which is pretty tricky to work with. Eventually, we will rent a lift and tackle the sides and back of the house, but for now we are just starting with the front!
