Vinyl siding usually doesn’t need to be painted because the color permeates the material. Then again, if you don’t like the color of your vinyl siding, you can paint it. For a sound finish, apply two coats of 100% acrylic latex paint. Be aware that, if you do paint your vinyl siding, it will require repainting in a few years.
Wait for clear, dry weather before you prime and paint. Outdoor temperatures should be between 50 and 90 degrees F. Don’t prime or paint in the morning before the dew has evaporated, and stop painting before evening dampness sets in. Don’t paint on windy or dusty days.

Once more, I hired House Painting to do the interior of our new condo. I didn't bother to get bids from other companies as I'm confident they're very reasonable and honest based on my past experiences from them. James is such a nice person to deal with. He sent Nam and Armando and both did an excellent job. They're very detailed and worked really hard to make sure we're happy. Final results made us beyond happy. We love the job they did. We will continue to recommend House Painting.
Check with your landlord or building admin to check if they have pre-selected painters, or if doing it yourself (DIY) to save money is allowed. Some apartment complexes include fresh painting of your color choice upon signing a new lease.
One of the least expensive ways to make a big impact on your home is painting. Applying a fresh coat of paint or changing to a different color can transform a room or change the look of your home’s whole exterior. Hiring a professional can get you better results while saving you time and money on equipment you won’t use often. Less-experienced student painters charge about $20 per hour, but you may be getting lower quality paint, less productivity, insurance risks, and an unreliable job. Always check online reviews, references, and licenses before hiring any painter. Also, make sure a trustworthy foreman represents the students.

Would you recommend the same course of action if a portion of the Tudor-Lite exterior were covered in a reddish brick? Actually – I often recommend the trim and body (siding) be painted the same color when there is a lot of brick or stone on the home. But I wouldn’t suggest a white with brick, as it will look too stark against the warmth of the brick and mortar. You might try matching the trim/siding to the color of the brick’s grout – that is often the best choice!
Old homes really need the expertise of a professional to get the best painted finish. Professional painters and painting companies not only understand the challenges of painting in older homes, they also understand how to problem solve when they are—inevitably—surprised by something they just haven’t seen before.
What should you do? A lot of it actually come down to personal preference, and your individual level of expertise.
Worldly Gray shows as a more saturated, slightly darker version of the popular Agreeable Gray. As an exterior color, it creates a soft and earthy feel. Because of Worldly Gray’s earthy tones, it pairs well with a Pearly White house trim color accented by black shutters.
The base and finish of the paint you use, how many coats it takes to cover your home’s siding, and how much prep work your house needs can all influence how much you pay a painting contractor. The more hours of work and materials a project takes, the higher your cost will be.
Josh, some great work on the renovation, it’s come up really nicely! It’s good to see you stressing the importance of not taking short cuts when it comes to prepping and removing wallpaper. It definitely does lead to more problems down the road when done incorrectly. However there is a caveat on that. If the wallpaper is in good condition and you have primed it properly, you can get away with painting over wallpaper. On a few jobs where the client has been on a tight budget, we have used an oil based primer to really seal the adhesive and keep then moisture from the paint away. Has worked well and we haven’t got any call backs. But I’d still agree with you and always push for stripping back wallpaper where possible. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure as the saying goes. Also, would love to see how your painted popcorn ceilings came up. We call it ‘vermiculite’. Its quite old school and we come across it in school jobs and old buildings occasionally. Jake Beals May 09, 2020
