When painting along glass, don’t bother to mask it if you have a steady hand. Allow the paint to lap onto the glass by about 1/16 inch. Remove the wet paint from the glass with a rag wrapped around the end of a putty knife. Then, after the paint sets-up, use a razor blade to remove any remaining paint.
Where this gray paint shines is when you have decorative exposed brick or stone with cooler undertones on your home. Oftentimes, it’s rare to find a gray paint color that coordinates with these elements. Pewter Gray is the perfect deep cooler-toned exterior shade for the job. Combine this gray tone with wood accents and a dark blue or brown front door for a gorgeous modern exterior color palette. .
Although the VIVAX Pros website uses a rather outdated web format, the content is well arranged with the home screen providing as much information regarding the company as possible. The header and footer are also meaningfully used to provide contact information for several of the company’s offices.
Since we don’t all live in single-family homes, let’s talk about the costs to paint by type of residence.
If you’re going to vacate your place for the duration of the work, make sure to take the essentials with you. For a project that will take multiple days, make a packing list so you don’t forget your toothbrush, chargers, clothes, entertainment, etc.
Wow, you really got down and dirty, I am seriously impressed when I hear people like yourself really learning and trying it yourself. Makes me feel like a slacker. I thought that was really interesting how you used a hose with bleach to get rid of the wall stains instead of the oil based primer. Now that I know it works I may try that myself and pass on the tip to friends. I am lucky to have a brother in the painting business hence the website . It really is tedious work and you need time which I never seem to have enough of. Great article, thanks for all of the great tips, I am happy I found your blog:-) Scott Bunker April 30, 2021
Over the years I’ve hired many painters—from Task Rabbit amateurs to professional tradesmen—for both interior and exterior projects. Yet for all my experience, I still feel like hiring a good painter is a crap-shoot, that I’m no closer to discovering that secret formula that guarantees a great paint job every time. Based on the number of friends who painstakingly share their own painting horror stories, I’m not alone. Luckily for me, I have finally found a great painting contractor, Nigel Costolloe, owner of Catchlight Painting, in Newton, MA. I wish I could say that I came to Nigel due to my superior knowledge of how to sleuth out and hire great painters. Alas he was the guy I called to fix a job-gone-wrong.
A fresh coat of paint does not just give your home a brand new look. It also provides protection against pest damage and harsh weather, helps siding last longer, maintains structural integrity, and increases the resale value of your home. From choosing the right color and finish for a room to buying painting supplies, there are a number of things you need to keep in mind before hiring a painter.
“My service technician Isaac is always on time. He texts and/or calls to let me know when he is on the way to my home. During a time were good customer service appears to be a rarity he is Always very polite and well-mannered. He asks me if there are any specific areas he need to pay a little bit more attention to. But this has been my experience with ABC Home & Commercial Services for over the last 3 years. I am very pleased with my services with them! I recommend ABC Home & Commercial Services to anyone looking for a respectful and dependable pest control company!”
When painting your home, it’s best to do it when it’s cooler. This is because direct sunlight can cause your paint to dry too quickly. This will not affect the actual paint. It just means harder work for the exterior house painters. Heat allows for visible brush strokes and general unevenness. This issue will also occur if it’s especially hot out, so if possible, only paint on days with mild weather. Or, follow the sun. While the sun is on one side of the home you can paint the opposing side. House painters call this chasing the sun.

If you do decide to make it a full-time business, the sky’s the limit. The house flipper/contractor that I worked for billed clients $35 per hour for painting, and paid his best painters perhaps half of that, so there is room for some profit there. Consider the case of Matt Shoup, who started with $100 and went door-to-door, asking neighbors if they needed some painting done, then built a painting business that earns $2.5 million per year!
