Paint needs to be applied carefully for it to look good and last a long time. Nevertheless, if there is a skilled house painter working under normal circumstances, a house shouldn’t take more than 2 or 3 days to paint. Finally, there will be a little bit of time to clean up painting supplies, remove tape, and so on. .
Other notable mentions by Sherwin – Williams are Pro-classic Waterborne Alkyd, Harmony Semi-Gloss, and Duration Home seems to have a newly formulated semi-gloss. We have not used or tested that product but are anxious to do so.

• One or two stories? Painting one story may be within the scope of an ambitious homeowner. Two stories means extension ladders and scaffolding — probably contractor territory.
Interior paints come in five different finishes: flat, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, and high gloss. High-gloss paints cost more, but are great for kitchens and bathrooms and are easier to clean. Flat or eggshell sheens are best for bedrooms, halls, and living rooms and hide flaws better than glossier paints.
We offer no obligation consultations. No surprise fees after the work is completed.
Labor and material costs vary from project to project, so house size isn’t the only thing that affects your overall price. Different kinds of paint will cost more or less per gallon, certain contractors will charge higher hourly rates, and the material of your siding will determine how much paint you have to use.
For metal siding, use medium-grade sandpaper on a sanding block. Sand any chipped or peeling paint until the surface is smooth. Remove any chalking or dust with a clean rag.
If you choose a higher quality interior paint from Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore, expect to pay $50-$70 per gallon. If choosing lower-grade paint for a big box store like Lowes or Home Depot, you can expect to pay $30-$45 per gallon.
Interior paint should last five to ten years. With regular light dusting and gentle cleaning, its lifespan will tend toward the latter. Addressing stains or any signs of water damage as soon as possible is key to maintaining both interior and exterior paint. If you find water damage on your exterior paint, you may want to inspect the gutters and downspouts. A yearly inspection and gutter cleaning may prevent paint damage down the road. Regular maintenance of your exterior paint should also include cleaning, touch-up painting, and trimming trees and bushes near the house to ensure proper airflow.
Paint supplies cost $50 to $200 on average, depending on the complexity and size of the room. These items are also reusable for multiple projects in the future.
