Unlike conventional masking tape, painter’s tape—the blue type—has an adhesive backing that is only mildly sticky. This makes it much easier to remove without damaging the paint or finish. Stickier 3-inch painter’s tape is better for holding down paper and plastic drop cloths. We prepped the house by pressure washing. I found this affordable pressure washer on Amazon and it worked great! We sprayed the brick with just water to clean it. The vinyl was sprayed with a small amount of outdoor cleaner added to really loosen the grime. We worked from top to bottom and used a ladder with ladder stabilizer, making sure not to spray upward on the siding (this would cause water to run behind the siding which can be very bad). Once this was done, we let the siding completely dry before the next steps.
Kitchens are typically on the easier spectrum of painting costs since much of the wall space is taken up by cabinets, appliances, and backsplashes. Several individual factors impact the overall cost of your painting project, including how many coats of paint you need and the type of paint you are using. As you may have guessed, higher quality paints cost more, but that is not the only thing that affects how much it costs. If you’re planning on going from a light color to a dark color or especially a dark color to a light color, it’s going to take a bit more work and money. Older homes require more prep work, often including drywall 4 or siding repairs.
