Painting your home is not just slapping on some colour and then calling it a day because you want th... Wallpaper vs Painting: Which One Should You Choose For Commercial Property?
.
If you spot any of the above things, act accordingly to ensure your paint job last longer. Besides, you need to maintain your walls by regularly washing off dirt and moss before they eat into your paint.
We’re currently flipping a house from the late 60s. We stripped popcorn ceilings ourselves in the entire house, re-textured every ceiling and wall, replaced all of the trim, and repainted every surface. We painted the ceilings with a roller extension- it was by far my least favorite part of renovations so far- so much easier if you do it before flooring is in though! I can’t wait to see more posts on the house! Such a neat project! Emily @ Life on Food February 25, 2015
If you’ve just bought or moved into a new home, you may not actually know the last time the property was painted. You should find out when that was, and find out the type of paint that was used as this will help you determine when you’ll need to paint the home again. Things like the type of paint used, the quality level of the paint, and even the color, can all speak to the overall longevity of the exterior paint surface.
If you are considering hiring a professional painter, we, Wall Works in Murrieta and Temecula CA, will be glad to work with you and ensure that your exterior walls look smooth and inviting.
Whoa! You must be a fan speaking of lessons learned..:) I appreciate your insight and if nothing else well, we played in the dirt and here we are now…Best..:)-annie Michelle March 01, 2015
Millions of people ask HomeGuide for cost estimates every year. We track the estimates they get from local companies, then we share those prices with you.
Painting the exterior of your home is more complicated than simply buying and applying paint. The effort requires a great deal of knowledge and skill in order to achieve the best possible results. In addition, preparation is vitally important.
Go for in-home estimates rather than estimates given out over the phone. An in-home estimate allows the estimator to capture more detail about the project and predict any areas that may require extra work, and thus, extra costs.
Is wall sanding, wood or drywall repair, and covering and moving furniture included in painting prep as well as in the estimate? If you need furniture covered or moved, be sure to address this and figure out who is responsible for moving anything.
To expand on the above, we’ve painted a bedroom that’s taken a few short hours and cost around $300 and then spent over a week painting a single bedroom with two painters with a total cost of over $5,000.
So, let’s jump directly into applying the paint. By now your surface should be de-glossed, clean, and primed.
Aside from a good quality paint brush, you want to make sure you have all the supplies you need prior to getting started.
A small semi-skilled crew can do most house painting and repainting jobs. Each painter should be able to cover 150 to 350 square feet of paintable area per hour.
When the painters arrived, they reviewed everything again to make sure they were painting the right things. Then they powerwashed and carefully masked everything off, also carefully moving furniture. They painted everything so nicely, I am very satisfied. There were frequent check-ins with me about how the service was going and clear communication about payment.
Depending upon what you’re painting, you may not need all of these. For example, if you’re just painting trim, painter’s tape and a single drop cloth should suffice. When painting window trim, it can be easier and more accurate to mask-off the glass from the frame (if you have a steady hand, masking may be an unnecessary hassle). Masking tape or painter’s tape can make painting multi-lite windows a breeze. ©Don Vandervort, HomeTips
