I don't mind painting, but house painting contractors have so much experience that they can have a crew in and out of your house in a short period of time. It takes me forever to complete a paint job. With the planning, prep work, primer, painting and then the clean up, it sometimes seems that I will never finish. Sporkasia yesterday
Before painting, seal-up any gaps between siding and trim. Painters recommend using paintable100% acrylic caulk for multi-purpose caulking. The weather and climate of where you live will greatly impact how long your exterior paint film will last. If your home experiences harsh, direct sunlight all summer, the paint will bubble and fade more quickly than if your home was in a shady area. Alternatively, if you live in an area with long, harsh winters, high humidity, or bad storms, your paint could fail sooner and cause the exterior paint film to age at a faster rate.
At times, a delicate armoire or bookcase can add complexity and cost to move or work around during a paint job. Likewise, make sure to communicate any delicate items in the dining room or around your home that can easily break before the job begins with the painting service you hire.

Even though most contractors will give quotes for the overall project price (including labor and materials), being familiar with average hourly rates can help with budgeting. The hourly cost will usually be per-painter, per-hour, so a home that requires multiple workers will have a severely increased rate.
Although it seems like an unnecessary step to wipe the walls down, it is a very important step. Whether you can see it or not, there is buildup on the walls of dirt, dust, and oils from your hands. Removing this debris prior to painting will allow the paint to adhere to the walls.

I originally planned to rent a sprayer from Home Depot for this. But while I was there, I realized that this could potentially be a multi-day project and that buying one could really save money. I was so right on this. I even took a risk by buying one of the cheaper pro sprayers and was TOTALLY BLOWN away. This is not an exaggeration. I genuinely think that this sprayer was one of my favorite purchases ever! The setup/clean up are definitely the most frustrating part about using it. But everything else was smooth sailing. We only had a small handful of clogs for the ENTIRE project. And clearing the clogs was SO simple (like you just turn the nozzle and spray it out).
