Stairways can be tricky when it comes to painting costs. Most stairway paint jobs offer some level of complexity regarding ladder placement and restricted ease of access.
This, of course, set me on a path of envy (such are the hazards of Instagram) that led to planning a paint makeover for my own house. Consider how the company presented itself in its interactions with you, their previous work, whether or not their estimate and explanation were comprehensive, how you felt when they were in your home, and other factors that are important to a successful project.

We did a little updating by spray painting the shutters, replacing the landscaping, adding a window box, painting the garage door, and building a pergola over the garage. This made a big impact, but I still craved the white brick after! We decided to break this project up into phases. Our house is three stories tall in the back and on the sides (we have a walk out basement). And the sides of the house have a steep hill, which is pretty tricky to work with. Eventually, we will rent a lift and tackle the sides and back of the house, but for now we are just starting with the front!

It's also a good idea to either cover your switch and outlet covers with painter's tape, or - if you're knowledgable about working around electricity - removing the covers from the wall and covering the opening with tape so you can paint under them.
