Filing siding and trim. Use a putty knife to fill deep gouges or holes in wood siding with vinyl exterior spackling compound or, for a semi-transparent stained finish, wood-toned filler. Just as we would inside of your home, when we apply paint to your home’s exterior, we begin by covering up plants, walkways or any outdoor decorations that you wouldn’t want ruined by drops of paint. Then, our painters will use the appropriate primer to prepare your exterior surface for paint. When we begin to paint, we pay special attention to your doors, windows and trim. When the painting is complete, we remove all coverings and any project debris. Once we are done, you can admire your freshly-painted home! Request An Estimate (210) 599-9500

As a general rule of thumb, newer homes involve much less prep work to start painting the exterior. Look at areas that look like they have water damage or other types of damage. Both interior and exterior areas that are damaged will need to be fully repaired before painting. Old homes are often full of surprises when this step is taken so be prepared. A reputable painting company will make sure that all repairs (especially where water, mildew or rot is concerned) are fully completed before painting.
In fact, water-based paint is more environmentally-friendly. It’s not considered hazardous waste. Just make sure you purchase an acrylic enamel if you are searching for comparable durability of oil.
One gallon usually covers about 400 square feet. For a room, calculate square feet by multiplying the length times the width. Do the same for the ceiling, if you're painting that, too. And don't forget the trim: multiply the length, in feet, by .5 for the width.
The paint job on your house, if done well and with high-quality paints, will last anywhere from five to eight years. This can, of course, vary based on the condition of the house and other environmental factors.
