Before painting, prime the surface with a latex primer made specifically for masonry. Paint brick with a 1-inch-nap roller or paint concrete with a 3/8-inch-nap roller. Choose 100% acrylic latex paint. When the paint is dry, touch up as needed with a brush.

The cost to paint your home’s exterior will be a bit less overall, though the paint products themselves are a bit more costly. On average, expect to pay between $3,500 and $7,000. On top of enhancing your curb appeal, repainting your exterior increases the value of your home. Plus, it gives you the chance to customize the look of your home to your exact specifications.
Another tip! If you’re painting textured walls, even edge lock tape won’t always do the trick! You can put the tape on the wall and then go over the edges with a thin stripe or PAINTABLE clear caulking! One part will come up with the tape, the other stays on the wall under the paint, and keeps the paint from seeping under the edge of the tape. Just remember to keep it thin so you don’t see it on the wall! Hazel February 25, 2015
Both Google and Yelp list (mostly) independent reviews from real costumers. Yes, it’s possible to “game” them, but Nigel has some tips on what to look for: If a company has no online review profile, this can be a red flag. Beware of brokerage sites which offer to make referrals. Often these companies make money based on the number of referrals, not the jobs booked, so their recommendations may be based on little more than a background check on the owner. Satin paint has a nice sheen and is ideal for exterior trim areas that are used or touched often. This highly durable, stretchy paint resists peeling and mildew. A satin paint finish is perfect for use on a variety of trim areas such as eaves, soffits, overhangs, trim boards, porch ceilings/trim, door frames, window sills, and so much more. It’s important to note that satin paint magnifies imperfections like dents, dings, cratering, and ridges in older wood trim and wood siding.

So you’ve decided to go the DIY route, and paint the interior of your house yourself. But where do you start? Which part of the house you should paint first?
The base and finish of the paint you use, how many coats it takes to cover your home’s siding, and how much prep work your house needs can all influence how much you pay a painting contractor. The more hours of work and materials a project takes, the higher your cost will be.
