The second thing that we needed to do was prep the walls for paint. That required several things:
When painting your existing home, your painter will have to come early to prep the area so that your personal belongings are protected. This includes taping the edges of walls, windows, and doors, laying a sheet down on the floor, clearing furniture and valuables out of the way, and more. Plus, the cleanup process is a bit more meticulous as your belongings will all have to be moved back into place, and there shouldn’t be any mess left behind.
Use fine-grit sandpaper to remove the gloss from the surface you’re painting. You want to use sandpaper to remove just the glossy part, not all the old paint.
What’s great about these paints is that, generally, they don’t harden over time. This means they’re less likely to blister. They also don’t mildew as frequently as oil-based paints, and they emit fewer VOCs, which makes them a more environmentally friendly option.
