Lift it horizontally, and then press the brush’s paint-heavy side against the siding board.
Once you've cut-in your ceiling, load your roller cover with paint and run off the excess along your grid so it doesn't drip.
To clean wood, vinyl, or aluminum siding, you will need a hose, sponge, stiff-bristle brush with extension pole, bucket, and mild detergent such as laundry soap or a TSP substitute. Scrub the surface with the soapy mixture, and then rinse it with clear water.
I always say that the proper paint color placement is as important as the actual paint colors you choose, in both interior and exterior applications. Here’s an example of an exterior I recently specified colors for:
If you want to hire a journeyman painter, you can expect to pay between $45 and $70 per hour. Journeyman painters know how to complete most residential, commercial, and industrial paint jobs with a variety of tools and equipment. They can use brushes, rollers, sprayers, and power equipment to prep and paint any surface. This level of expertise will be useful for many jobs. You can expect the job to be completed correctly. The cost of professional painters at this level will be middle of the road, and you can still expect quality service.
Scraping siding. Begin by removing dirt and any blistered or cracked paint from wood siding with a hook-blade paint scraper, scraping in line with the wood grain. You don’t necessarily need to remove the paint down to the bare wood, but you should remove all flaking paint.

To determine the number of coats your project requires, first examine the surface you'll be painting. A porous, rough, textured or previously unpainted surface will generally require more paint, as will a project that involves a dramatic color change. TIP: If you choose a deep, intense color, you may need multiple coats or even a tinted primer for the best results. Less paint may be needed if your color change is subtle, or your home has many "unpaintable" features such as window panes or decorative stone.
For acrylic latex paint or other water-based finishes, choose brushes with synthetic bristles—either polyester or nylon. Natural bristles lose their integrity when they soak-up water from water-based paints. Brushes made from polyester keep their shape when wet and remain firm when you paint on a hot day. Brushes made with nylon last longer, but tend to become limp on hot days.
Painting your own house sounds fun since you could do it anyway you want. But I don’t think I would be able to do that though. Hope I could do that someday though 🙂 tisha February 26, 2015
The “after” is a classic but fresh gothic farmhouse. We chose a perfect white for both the trim and body of the house to create a calm, cohesive exterior, punctuated by a front door in duck-egg blue. The stone foundation anchors the house nicely.
