The average cost to paint a bathroom is $150 to $400, whereas a large master bathroom runs $250 to $650 depending on the prep work required. Bathroom painting is more costly because of the cut in work around the tub, shower, and vanity, as well as removing towel bars and toilet paper holders. My partner and I are skim coating the texture out of our 2100 sqft home. We probably watched the same videos! and as intimidated as I was to star t, even after finishing just the first room, we have a pretty good handle on how to make it work. Unless you can easily afford to have someone else do it, I think it’s a forgiving enough project for even the most novice homeowner.
I originally planned to rent a sprayer from Home Depot for this. But while I was there, I realized that this could potentially be a multi-day project and that buying one could really save money. I was so right on this. I even took a risk by buying one of the cheaper pro sprayers and was TOTALLY BLOWN away. This is not an exaggeration. I genuinely think that this sprayer was one of my favorite purchases ever! The setup/clean up are definitely the most frustrating part about using it. But everything else was smooth sailing. We only had a small handful of clogs for the ENTIRE project. And clearing the clogs was SO simple (like you just turn the nozzle and spray it out).
If the wall you’re painting is in good condition and you aren’t trying to cover up stains or a darker color of paint, you might be able to skip the primer altogether. You would save money in the moment, but the paint job would be lower quality and you may have to repaint sooner.

It’s important to do your research and get multiple quotes before choosing your painting professionals. That way, you can better understand what to look for in terms of your painter’s experience level and overall rates for your specific project. Generally, painting contractors charge in four ways: per sq.ft. of space painted, per hour, per day, and per room. These rates tend to stay fairly consistent whether you are painting your home’s interior or exterior. Let’s take a closer look at each of these methods and how much the average cost for a professional painter will be for your project.
