Is black the new neutral? Black houses are certainly on the rise, and there’s no denying their chic appeal. But you may want to consider these cons before crossing over to the dark side: First, black houses absorb more heat from the sun than white houses. And black fades faster than lighter colors. By doing this, your top-coat is substantially more likely to adhere properly. Which means no blistering or bubbling.
However, White Dove (OC-17) is still regarded as a warm soft off-white. As an exterior paint color, you can use White Dove on your home’s siding or trim. Similar to alabaster, this trending color is best used to brighten up shaded houses. The color really pops when surrounded by greenery and contrasted with black shutters or slate-toned windows.
As mentioned, it’s a warmer off-white color with some beige undertones, without looking yellow in most cases. Likewise, it’s the perfect exterior neutral tone, best suited to brighten up homes that get lots of shade. The versatile shade can be comfortably used as a siding or body color as well as a contrasting house trim color.
Painting the exterior of your home is more complicated than simply buying and applying paint. The effort requires a great deal of knowledge and skill in order to achieve the best possible results. In addition, preparation is vitally important.
Is wall sanding, wood or drywall repair, and covering and moving furniture included in painting prep as well as in the estimate? If you need furniture covered or moved, be sure to address this and figure out who is responsible for moving anything.
A perk of going dark: You may be able to skip the primer if the original paint is a lighter color, and you may need fewer coats!
